Kirsty McKenna was born in Shipley, West Yorkshire, and now lives in Argyll and Bute, Scotland. After a career in the casino industry and later studying law, she developed a passion for archaeology, completing postgraduate studies with a particular fascination for ancient burial practices and osteoarchaeology. Her research and lifelong interest in the stories hidden beneath the earth inspired the creation of forensic archaeologist Dr Tess O’Brien. The Dying Swan is the first novel in the Dr Tess O’Brien crime series.
